The bureau is funded by Barrow Borough Council, Cumbria County Council, The Legal Aid Board and charitable donations.
The service is FREE, CONFIDENTIAL, IMPARTIAL AND INDEPENDENT
Advisers are a mix of paid and voluntary staff who are trained and supervised at all times.

Our Aims


Our aims are to ; ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities or through the services available to them or through an inability to express their needs effectively.

Also equally to to exercise responsible influence over the development of social policy both locally and nationally.



Opening Hours


The opening hours of the Advice Bureau are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm for both telephone and personal callers.
for our generalist service, you do not need an appointment.
There is a 24-hour telephone recorded information service for when our lines are busy or outside our normal hours.This number is :-

The Advice Bureau is in Ramsden Hall on the corner of Bath Street and Abbey Road.
We have disabled access and there is a car park to the side of the building.
