Barrow Citizens Advice is an independent charity which provides free, confidential, impartial, independent information and advice to people who live and work in the borough of Barrow-in-Furness about their rights and responsibilities.
Founded over 50 years ago, our approach is client centred and focused on a commitment to quality and a fair society. Our aims are to:
- provide the advice people need for the problems they face
- improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives
- fight poverty in Barrow

Structure, Governance & Management
Barrow Citizens Advice is a company limited by guarantee, a member of national Citizens Advice and is governed by a board of volunteer Trustees. The board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization and has ultimate responsibility for the conduct of Barrow Citizens Advice and for ensuring that the charity satisfies its legal and contractual obligations.
Operational management of Barrow Citizens Advice is delegated to the Chief Executive Officer. Services are delivered by a committed team of paid workers and volunteers.
